The crisis

The end of one journey is just the beginning of another

We must see what we have not seen, see again what we have already seen (...)

It is necessary to go back on the steps already taken, to repeat them and to trace new paths alongside them.

We have to start the journey again. Always.

(Trip to Portugal, Josè Saramago )

In Italy it is estimated that in the first half of 2015 on average more than 2 companies went bankrupt every hour. In the span of seven years, since 2009, around 90,000 companies seem to have gone bankrupt.

An economic crisis is not only economic, but it insinuates itself into the soul of the people who live it, to the point of questioning the image of themselves, of their social and family interactions, of their daily routine.

Telling this page of my personal diary was, for me, first of all a therapy and now a reminder of that crisis that has radically invested the lives of my parents, as their daughter, also mine.

To pay the debts incurred with the bankruptcy of their company, in December 2015, they had to (un) also sell the house built with the sacrifices made over time and organize the move of a lifetime.

Day after day I felt with them the fatigue of this migration which was real and symbolic at the same time. Within this crisis I found shadows, loneliness, memories, sleepless nights and the search for a God, but also new roots to continue growing.

A crisis can force those who live it to change their point of view and start their journey again ...
